Sheu Shagari :Nigeria’s 1st executive president buried in sokoto.

The ex-president Alhaji Shehu Aliyu Usman Shagari was placed in the grave yesterday v , when his remains arrived his hometown of Shagari Local Government Area of sokoto State for burial.

The demise body was flown into sokoto state through the Sultan Abubakar III international Airport about 12:55pm, where it was received by dignitaries before it was transported to Shagari Local Government area.

A group of military officers brought out the body from the aircraft and placed in a Nigerian Air Force ambulance for about 50-kilometre journey to Shagari, outskirts of sokoto, a place where he was born 93years ago.

More so, as the body was being brought out of the aircraft with registration number 5N-FGZ, emotions ran high, as many were seen shredding tears.

Sokoto Governor Aminu Tambuwal was amortize received the body of the late ex-president.

The remains of first executive president Alhaji Sheu Shagari was being evacuated for interment St Shagari village in sokoto.

At Shagari town, many residents poured out into the streets to catch a last glimpse of the former president who rough fame to their town. The roads leading to his town were filled with heavy vehicular gridlock as sympathizers rushed to attend the funeral prayers.

The body of the late ex-president arrived Shagari at 2:17pm where a funeral prayer was conducted at his residence led by professor Sheu Galadanci, a former vice Chancellor of Usman Danfodiyo University.

Sheu Shagari was buried at 3:30pm beside the grave of his Kate son and former commissioner for health and Agriculture in sokoto state, Abdul Rahman Shagari, who died in a plane crash 12 years ago.

The funeral prayer was attended by Governors Tambuwal Soko State Governor, Yari of Zamfara Abdulazeez, Abubakar Atiku Bagudu of kebbi state, Malam Adamu Adamu(Minister of Education), Justice Abubakar Malami (SAN), Minister of Aviation Hadi siriki and senator Aliyu Magatakarda.

Speaking about the the deceased, Governor Tambuwal said “he was a father to everyone in the nation” , just as Governor of kebbi Atiku Bagudu, noted that he was for Nigeria, not sokoto on the North and that he Would be greatly missed.

One of the deceased son, a police superintendent Haruna Shagari, said their late father willed to buried beside his son.

Haruna added that, he would never forget about his father was when he told him “you are now somebody in the society” after he was commissioned as a police inspector over 20years ago. “these are the words I will never forget, and that have been keeping me moving”, Haruna said.

The eldest son of the late ex – president, Bala Shagari described his death of his father devastating to him” The ex-president was more than a father to him, he was a teacher and somebody I looked up to. I will miss him greatly “, he said.

In addition, he described the tributes being poured on his late father from across the country and evidence that the late president lived an exemplary life.
