Nigeria Institute of Public Relation,NIPR, in partnership with School of Communication , Lagos State University as organizing 8weeks Entrepreneurship training for students of the University.
The programme is tagged”Employability Programme for Students in Tertiary Institutions.”started,Saturday,6th July,2019. At the school of communication building ,LASU,Ojo main campus.
According to the Chairman, NIPR, Lagos Chapter, Mr Segun McMedal stated that the challenges of unemployment and lack of jobs is at the heart of this initiative.
“LASU is the first university to benefit from the institute’s employability training largely because of the very supportive and innovative Vice Chancellor and Management”,he said .
He opined that , the advantages of this training is that students are able to Gain globally competitive skill; Earn healthy income while studying Secure professional licence .
According to The Dean of School of Communication ,LASU said”You (students) can acquire professional certification along with your degree and that gives you a special advantage. I appreciate the NIPR for giving you this opportunity.I can’t quantify what you are going to gain in this programme, financially and timewise. You are fortunate to enjoy this”.
He added that ,In LASU we are already working on having holders of Diplomas in Communication come to earn Degree. People in Diploma in NIPR can come for their professional masters and this will begin soon.
He stated that ,the world has gone beyond academic qualification. We are at an age of professionalism. And this is where this kind of training comes in handy for you.
Dr. Peter Ogudoro, the Director of Education and Head of the Programme while he was delivering his speech Said,The programme is designed to empower the students with skills that can earn them money right from school.
He noted that effective participation is important for the success of this programme. Attendance is important and being on time is key.
He opined that ,at the end of the training, students will be included as members of the NIPR.
